75,000 sqm Long-Span Port Transit Bulk Warehouse in Tanzania: Marine Anti-Corrosion and High-Throughput Logistics
The 80-meter column-free clear span provides immense interior volume, allowing uninterrupted maneuverability for heavy bulk loaders and trucks.

Project Overview
Situated at a major Tanzanian port, this 75,000 sqm bulk transit warehouse is the ultimate logistical artery for East Africa. In port management, cargo throughput speed is paramount. Port authorities harbor anxieties regarding three threats: devastating salt-spray corrosion, restrictive interior columns slowing down loaders, and roof failures during coastal storms. Shijie Heavy Industry eradicated these fears by engineering a specialized long-span portal steel frame. By pre-fabricating robust wide-flange beams, we created a massive column-free interior allowing dump trucks to operate freely, accelerating cargo turnover. To combat the Indian Ocean climate, the steel skeleton is protected by a premium C5-M marine-grade anti-corrosion coating system, guaranteeing zero-maintenance durability. Assembled entirely via high-strength bolts, the framework was erected rapidly without disrupting active port operations, delivering the facility 35 days early.

Unobstructed Logistics Span
The 80-meter column-free clear span provides immense interior volume, allowing uninterrupted maneuverability for heavy bulk loaders and trucks.
Marine-Grade Shielding
A rigorous C5-M heavy anti-corrosion epoxy system provides an impenetrable armor against the Indian Ocean's highly saline, humid atmosphere.
Coastal Storm Resilience
Aerodynamic roof profiling and reinforced portal frames effortlessly dissipate extreme wind loads generated by severe coastal monsoons.
Zero-Disruption Assembly
Precision CNC-machined bolted nodes enabled ultra-fast field erection, strictly avoiding any operational interference with the active port.
Turning Site Challenges into Engineered Certainty
Proven technical interventions to keep your project on spec, on budget, and on schedule
Coastal environments subject steel to aggressive salt-spray, causing rapid decay.
Deployed a C5-M marine-grade epoxy coating, completely sealing the steel substrate.
Constructing in a busy port threatens severe logistical gridlock for shipping.
Utilized off-site prefabrication and bolted assembly, eliminating field welding.
Managing a critical transit hub in Tanzania requires absolute logistical efficiency. Coastal salt spray usually eats through standard steel sheds rapidly, and interior columns constantly slow down loaders. Shijie Heavy Industry understood our fears. Their 80-meter clear-span portal frame is a triumph, removing interior obstacles and accelerating our bulk cargo turnover rates. The C5-M marine coating gives us total confidence against the Indian Ocean climate. What impressed us was their bolted erection strategy. They assembled the massive structure without delaying our daily shipping traffic. Handing over the facility 35 days early translated to an immediate surge in port revenue. A world-class partner!

Frequently Asked Questions
What did SynJect build at this Tanzanian port?
A 75,000 sqm bulk transit warehouse on a long-span portal steel frame with an 80 m column-free interior width, so loaders and dump trucks can turn and stack without weaving around columns.
Salt spray at an Indian Ocean terminal destroys steel quickly. What coating system was used?
A C5-M marine epoxy-polyurethane system over a Sa 2.5 blast, with stripe coats on every weld, cut edge and bolt head. Dry film thickness is measured on each batch, because pinholes at edges are where marine corrosion starts.
How does the roof handle coastal storm wind and uplift?
The roof profile is aerodynamic and the portal frames are reinforced for the site’s coastal wind load, with purlin spacing and fixing patterns set for uplift rather than gravity load alone. Coastal storm loading governed the design, not the crane loads.
Can a warehouse this size be built without shutting down port operations?
Yes. All fabrication happened off site and the frame is 100% high-strength bolted, with no field welding, cutting or hot work permits. Erection ran alongside live cargo handling, so the terminal never lost a berth window.
What did the 80 m clear span actually deliver for the operator?
No internal columns means free circulation for heavy loaders, more usable stack height and faster truck turnaround per shift. Combined with modular erection, the warehouse was handed over 35 days early.
