45,000 sqm Multi-Tier Precision Electronics Cleanroom Workshop in Vietnam: Micro-Vibration Control, Heavy Inter-Building Skybridge, and Accelerated Clean-Build Handover

Optimized floor beam mass and stiffness through dynamic modal simulations, suppressing dynamic vibration transmissions from rooftop MAU equipment to protect sub-micron chip mounting precision.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Project Overview

Located in the core high-tech manufacturing corridor of northern Vietnam, this modern industrial manufacturing campus produces advanced display modules and precision semiconductor components. Unlike conventional industrial warehouses, multi-story electronics cleanrooms impose brutal structural demands. The upper floors house heavy, high-velocity Make-up Air Handling Units (MAU) and recirculating fan filter units, while the production floor below operates hyper-sensitive SMT mounters and wire bonders that require stringent micro-vibration performance (VC-A/VC-B criteria).

For the EPC project director, the core anxiety centered on dynamic structural resonance and inter-building logistics connection. If the heavy steel frame lacked adequate stiffness, vibrations from roof chillers and forklift traffic across the elevated 38-meter steel skybridge would transfer into the cleanroom slabs, throwing nanometer-level chip placement out of tolerance and destroying product yield. Furthermore, cleanroom general contractors operate on non-negotiable delivery dates tied to global consumer electronics launch windows; any delay in completing the structural envelope pushes back cleanroom panel installation and HVAC balancing. With clean construction protocols strictly banning overhead torch cutting or grinding dust that contaminates air ducts, there was zero margin for field error.

Shijie Heavy Industry engineered a high-rigidity, vibration-isolated structural steel framework. Utilizing dynamic harmonic finite element analysis, Shijie tuned structural frequencies and engineered rigid composite column-beam moments, locking floor vibration velocity well within tight VC criteria. The heavy multi-tier steel skybridge was shop-fabricated with precision slotted expansion bearings to isolate seismic and thermal drift between adjacent buildings. Delivered in sequenced container lots with cleanroom-grade protective packaging, over 7,200 tons of structural steel went up 100% bolted with zero site cutting or welding. The structural envelope was completed 20 days ahead of the cleanroom certification milestone, ensuring zero yield loss during mass production ramp-up.

THE CHALLENGE

Heavy rooftop air-handling equipment causes dynamic structural micro-vibrations, degrading precision chip placement yields.

SJ ENGINEERED SOLUTION

Executed ANSYS dynamic harmonic modeling to stiffen framing and tuned cross-girders away from machine resonance zones, adding factory vibration anchor pads.

THE CHALLENGE

Erecting a 38m heavy two-story steel skybridge over an active plant road without disrupting ongoing campus logistics.

SJ ENGINEERED SOLUTION

Modularized the skybridge into a rigid tubular space truss, pre-assembling it on the ground and executing a single-pick overnight tandem crane lift.

THE CHALLENGE

Tight consumer electronics launch deadlines: cleanroom contractors cannot tolerate on-site welding dust or structural delays.

SJ ENGINEERED SOLUTION

CNC-drilled all bolt holes with ± 0.5mm precision and shipped parts in clean weatherproof packaging, achieving 100% bolted field erection with zero cuts.

CLIENT VOICE

In a multi-story cleanroom, steel frame resonance ruins SMT chip placement yields instantly. Shijie solved it: our vibration tests beat VC limits by 30% even with roof air handlers at full blast. The 38m skybridge hoisted overnight in a single pick, and 7,200 tons went up 100% bolted with zero torch cuts. Delivering 20 days early secured our mass production launch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What was delivered for this electronics campus in northern Vietnam?

A 45,000 sqm gross floor area cleanroom manufacturing campus of roughly 7,200 metric tons of heavy steel, producing advanced display modules and precision semiconductor components across multiple production levels.

Floor framing is designed to VC-A and VC-B criteria, the micro-vibration limits that SMT mounters and wire bonders demand. Beam mass and stiffness were tuned through dynamic modal simulation so the floors do not resonate with rooftop air-handling equipment, and cross-girders are tuned away from machine resonance zones.

It was modularised into a rigid tubular space truss, assembled on the ground and lifted in a single overnight tandem crane pick. Slotted Teflon slide bearings decouple it from both buildings, isolating vibration and allowing thermal movement between structures.

None. All bolt holes are CNC-drilled to plus or minus 0.5mm and parts ship in clean weatherproof packaging, so columns, floor beams and bracing bolt together aloft with zero field cutting or reaming. That is what keeps the cleanroom envelope free of metal dust.

Twenty days ahead of cleanroom handover, which is the date that actually matters to the client – the fit-out contractor gains almost three extra weeks on the critical path. Members were containerised bay by bay and hook-lifted straight off the flatbed, so no double handling slowed the restricted industrial park.
